Revolution" in Czechoslovakia in the late 1980's and early '90's who
later became the president of the Czech republic.
The most notable of his plays was "Pokušeni" (Temptation)which was a modern take on the Faust legend.
He often referred to the Communist state concept by coining the word
"Absurdistan." A few of his plays pointed out the absurdities of the
totalitarian state.
He was awarded the U.S. Presidential Medal of
Freedom by George W. Bush.
